Webmail access at MV

Choose from among the following webmail packages. Please also check the various notes following the list.

SquirrelMail
The latest stable release of the popular SquirrelMail package. This is a fairly robust webmail package that does not require extensive browser capabilities.
FCG users see special note below.

MV's webmail
The original MV webmail program. While this is being phased out, you may still need to access it for various reasons .
(There will be one more webmail package coming soon.)

Note to FCG users formerly using the older SquirrelMail installation

If you have been using the previous SquirrelMail installation at MV, your old profile information has not been carried forward, and you will probably have to spend a little time in the options menu to set up your addresses and preferences. One thing in particular that you'll want to configure is your email address information, so that when you send mail your address will be what you want it to be. Another is whether you want a copy of the mail you send to be automatically saved to a Sent folder - this is not enabled by default. (Those are just a couple of examples.)

Profiles

Each webmail package maintains its own profile information. If you make use of more than one of these webmail packages, note that you need to configure each one separately. The first time you visit any of them, please spend some time to configure some common options including your primary email address (which will be seen on any outgoing mail that you sent).

Bookmarking

If you add a bookmark (as you probably will want to do), we think it's best if you bookmark this page rather than the specific package you choose. That way you'll be able to see any changes that are made here.

If you do bookmark this page, we also think it's best if you use the URL that got you here, i.e.:

rather than the page that you were redirected to, since the redirected page may change. Likewise, if you bookmark one of the specific webmail package, it would be better to bookmark the URL given in the list above, rather than bookmarking the page that you land on after clicking that URL. For many browsers, one typical way to bookmark the link is to right-click on it and choose "bookmark" on the menu that comes up; another is to drag the link to your bookmark bar or bookmark list.
